On June 13-17, 2016, I had the privilege of lecturing on gravitational waves at the 2016 Summer School of Cosmology of the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. I met dozens of smart, enthusiastic students from all over the world, and I had a chance to re-learn the foundations of my very own subject. I short, I had a ball.
An excerpt from the documentary by Natia Docufilm about my work and my personal trajectory from Italy to Pasadena. The documentary was filmed in June 2013, and aired on Oct 28, 2014, on Italian channel Marco Polo. In this short excerpt, I explain what gravitational waves are, and I am seen discussing physics in a (very serene-looking, I'm happy to say) research group meeting.
An excerpt from the performance "Einstein's Cosmic Messengers", the GW-themed multimedia performance by Andrea Centazzo and Michele, at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Sep 24, 2012. This video includes my introduction on the scientific context of the show, as well as the "Eternal Discoveries" performance segment.
Talk given at the Effective Field Theory and Gravitational Physics Conference at the Perimeter Institute on Nov 28, 2011.
Talk given at CITA on Dec 1, 2011.
CaJAGWR talk, May 10, 2011.
A short documentary feature about the making of Andrea Centazzo's multimedia show "Einstein's Cosmic Messengers", and about the science of gravitational waves, which inspired the show. Produced by Michele Vallisneri. Shot and edited by Almost Red productions. Music and video images by Andrea Centazzo.
Bovard Auditorium, University of Southern California, 22 Oct 2010. After the performance of Andrea Centazzo's "Einstein's Cosmic Messengers", an expert panel including K C Cole, Elena Pierpaoli, Michele Vallisneri, and Andrea Centazzo discuss gravitational waves and the inspiration behind the concert.
